Lead Related Construction Inspector/Assessor
Price: US$795.00Class Times: 8:00am-4:30pm
Course Description:
This course meets CDPH requirements for Inspection and Assessment training. In this five-day course students study and put into practice U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) protocols for inspecting facilities for lead coatings and for assessing hazards posed by lead. Students learn the limits and uses of paint chip sampling and its analysis by atomic absorption; students will learn the principles of x-ray fluorescence (XRF) testing and use state-of-the-art XRF analyzers in the field. Students perform risk assessments under the guidance of a field-experienced instructor. Student/Instructor ratios for field exercises are at most 10:1 so that each student receives the attention and instruction they need.
Students participate in detailed inspection and assessment of workshops in the field where you will collect paint-chips, soil and settled-dust samples, use an XRF analyzer to conduct an inspection and perform a mock risk assessment.
In order to become a certified lead inspector/assessor, you will need to complete the 40-hr Lead I/A Initial, sign up and pass the CPS State certification exam, submit a completed application along with $75 and a photo to CDPH. Once you receive your card from CDPH, you will be certified.
Course Completion Documentation:
A CDPH Course Completion Form documenting completion of the Inspector/Assessor Course is given to students who attend all five days and pass the written examination. Full attendance is mandatory.
Course Hours: This five day course held at CALINC Training, starts at 8:00 am and runs until 4:30 pm. Participants are provided with a continental breakfast and lunch is served from one of several local restaurants.
