Asbestos Building Inspector / Management Planner Initial

Course Description:

The Building Inspector determines the location and presence of asbestos-containing materials and also assesses the condition of the material. Only an AHERA accredited inspector can sample and inspect material for asbestos. In California, when a person is hired to inspect and sample materials for asbestos, they must be a Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) or Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) working under a CAC.This course meets AHERA training requirements as well as Cal/OSHA training requirements for Building Inspectors. The course provides an overview of asbestos containing materials in buildings, the methods to find, categorize and assess their condition and potential for disturbance. The topics covered in detail are: discussion of state and federal regulations, health effects, personal protective equipment, the inspection process, sampling and categorizing the material, recordkeeping, legal liability and insurance. The last day includes a hands-on training using established inspection methodologies and organization of findings is conducted so the student is exposed to real world asbestos building inspection protocols.

The second session continues the natural sequence of events in the Management Planner Course. This two-day course is required for all persons who write management plans for schools and for individuals seeking certification as Cal/OSHA Certified Asbestos Consultants (CAC). The student now takes the inspection report and determines a proper response action based on the inspection report utilizing specific Management Planner resources. The student becomes familiar with Management Plans and Operations & Maintenance programs. Regulations are covered in detail, as well as EPA hazard assessment protocols, appropriate selection of response actions including removal, encapsulation, repair and enclosure, development and implementation of Operations and Maintenance Programs. Students will use this knowledge to develop and use a management plan and O & M program in the class.

Asbestos Contractor Supervisor Initial

Course Description:

This course meets the AHERA training requirement for Asbestos Contractor/Supervisors. Students will review, in detail, EPA, OSHA and California regulations which apply to asbestos work. The topics covered in detail are: the history and uses of asbestos, health effects, protective equipment, work practices, inspections, safety, and more. In addition to the minimum EPA requirements, students will cover issues of current and enduring importance in the field of asbestos contracting and supervision. Instructors take the time to cover topics of importance to individual students. In-depth coverage of important issues allows students to go back to their work places to supervise and work on asbestos abatement jobs. The course includes timely updates and is presented in ways that challenge the students to gain a deeper and continuing knowledge of the topics that affect their jobs. The class consists of classroom and hands-on instruction.

Certificate of Completion: A CALINC Training Certificate documenting Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor (Competent Person) Initial training is awarded to each student who attends the course and passes the required written exam. Full attendance is mandatory.

Asbestos Maintenance Worker Initial

Price: US$315.00
Class Times: 8:00am-4:30pm

Course Description:

This 16-hour course (OSHA Class III) is required, at a minimum, for all service workers (maintenance and custodial staff) whose jobs may require them to disturb small amounts of asbestos during routine or emergency maintenance-related work. If the anticipated work is either not maintenance related (such as renovation, new system tie-ins, etc) or not able to be contained in a single, standard sized glove bag or waste bag, then AHERA accredited courses will be necessary.

In this two day course workers will cover regulations regarding this type of limited asbestos-related work, history, and uses of asbestos materials in buildings, potential health effects, personal protection, engineering controls and response actions, and methodologies for abatement and disturbance during routine maintenance activities. We offer real-world solutions to people who work in the real world.

Class begins at 8am each day with continental breakfast and lunch provided.

Asbestos Project Designer Initial

Course Description:

Asbestos Project Designers conduct, plan, design, and develop procedures for asbestos abatement projects. This 3-day course is required for all persons who design response actions for public and commercial buildings or schools. This course is also required for individuals seeking certification as Cal/OSHA Certified Asbestos Consultants (CAC). In addition to concerning common uses of asbestos in buildings, health affect issues, and respiratory protection, you will review pertinent regulations, liability issues, asbestos abatement work practices, air sampling and cost estimating. The instructor’s field experience comes into the classroom and real projects will be discussed.

Certificate of Completion: An AHERA Training Certificate documenting Asbestos Project Designer Initial training is awarded to each student who attends the course and passes the required written exam. Full attendance is mandatory.

Asbestos Worker Initial

Price: US$550.00
Class Times: 8:00am-4:30pm

Course Description:

This four-day course is accredited by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and meets OSHA requirements for Class I & II work. The course covers many topics including safety, laws and regulations, and state-of-the-art work procedures. The participant will also be involved in a 14 hour segment of hands-on training which will include activities such as donning personal protective equipment, building a decontamination unit, glove-bagging, and proper use of common asbestos abatement equipment and tools. Prerequisites: None.

Certificate of Completion: An AHERA certificate documenting Asbestos Worker training is awarded to each student who attends the course. Full attendance is mandatory.

Course Hours: This four day course held at CALINC Training starts at 8:00 am and runs until 4:00 pm. Participants are provided with a continental breakfast and lunch is served from one of several local restaurants each day.
